The Kind of Stuff that the ST Forum is willing to publish

If the ST is willing to publish nonsense like that in its online forum, what is it not ready to publish?

Oh, non nation-building stuff perhaps?

Water Cure

Beating HFMD: Drink water

THE rising number of reported hand, foot and mouth disease cases shows that stepped-up hygiene standards and checks on the young charges are not enough to arrest the crisis.

One way that can help tackle the problem is to be mindful of children's water intake. I am not advocating just drinking lots of water. Water intake should be more specific, in proportion to the child's body weight. The key is to drink it in sufficient quantity and regularity.

The rule of thumb is: Drink at least one ounce of water for every two pounds of the child's body weight. The metric equivalent is: 31.42ml of water for every 1kg of the child's weight. In addition, mix 6/100 (0.06) teaspoon of sea salt (do not use table salt) into every 314.2 ml of water. [And what does that do for children??]

For thousands of years, doctors have successfully treated their patients [suffering from?] with nothing more than plain water and natural salt. Water and natural salt, when combined together, give you everything [!!!!] your body and mind need.

Don't need degree and actual practices to be doctors :)
just need to read something on the net by a indian or african MD then recommend it as a preventive measure
Now we all know their credibility as information managers

"It's the ShittyTimes. What to do ? It's happened"

Molly should address this as ShittyTimes, not Strait Times least mention of its this name tarnish everyone's blog and make everyone's blood boil.

It is called ShittyTimes because only the dog and cat enjoy it. Not enjoying reading it but shit on it... It's so shitful that merely looking at the newspaper make anyone feel like shit.

Don't Molly the cat agree ?

The letter writer isn't a journalist. And while I respect the freedom of speech, I know that the ST chooses letters to publish (not all letters get published). And the fact that this letter is chosen says something. Is there really no better letter to choose from or equally bad letter on a more worthy issue?

My point exactly

The Forums are screen for any remarks that they deem inappropriate Like say "Why High Minister salary,High food price,Escalating Criminal Activity(they know),High influx of Fortunate Travelers or even why GST so High?"(These are the real issues)
And then churn online Advice from a ST Aero PR Engineer who read somewhere on water/salt therapy which is not listed in all Scientific journals except for a few gossip types tabloid paper.
That speak volume about their Credibility as Information Managers as they should have at the very least checked (least effort being google).

Drinking water has got everything to do with hygiene. It flushes toxins out of your body. For best results, drink with 2.300485 ml of detergent.

Sooo....

I guess it's been a slow-forum-letters-day?

That no one else is writing in with anything constructive... and well-thought out... and pertinent to some of the other serious issues we're facing? Say, that guy who ran away, or the prices that are skyrocketing?

Slow letters day? Then don't publish anything. It's not mandatory to publish letters (esp given that it's the online section).

Well, I bet someone there is lamenting:

"Why? Why doesn't Mr. Lee See Nao someone write to us to praise the ERP, costs of living and whatnot. Why is no one writing in to exalt LKY?"
