My Summary of _the_ Report(s)
There is the report. And there are the reports of the reports. So much to read. I'll just summarize:

Hey look! The government is transparent and responsible. Hey look! It's giving a full account!

Hey look! No one was bribed by terrorists!

Oh yes, something went wrong and they can't be free from blame, but hey, let's be balanced when we blame them.

Action will be taken on personnel of the lowest blameable rank.

Even shorter summary:

You can blame us them, but you shouldn't blame us them.

Don't blame WKS lah! Are you expecting him to step down because of one lapse that isn't due to him? What do you expect next? That LHL and LKY step down as well? And Mdm Ho to resign from Temasek?? Tsk. Tsk.

Yeah, they live by a different standard. James Gomes was almost prevented from contesting the last election because of a stupid harmless mistake. And it was the whole PAP, particularly WKS who made the most noice about removing him from contesting the election. But of course only PAP people make 'honest mistakes'.

You cannot like that say. Gomez screwed up the form himself. But WKS didn't screw up himself. It's the low-ranking ones who screwed up. Never mind about what it says about his leadership/management abilities.

I also thought of a certain Mrs Lee's shopping when I saw that image. Want to be paid like private sector high-flyers but don't want the same accountability. Honest mistake(s)?
