Jokes of the Day
A particular petition site is fast becoming a huge compilation of jokes, including the following classics*:
1. "I am strongly against homosexuality. What they do in private is their business and they shouldn't force it to be legalised."
Yeah, you said it's their business, didn't you?
2. "This country is an island[small ] our roots most of our great grand father migrated here with asean culture, civilise cultures and traditional value grade of thought, NOT TODAY HOMESEXUALITY THOUGHT. I against to remove this S377A of the PENAL CODE.I suggest to the proposal should use your given WISDOM on the right path more civilise or towards to build a better island on economy."
I is confused by you words. I didn't knows that our great grand father (with a space between) migrated here with asean culture. I thinks they came long before asean was estabrished.
3. "How do we explain it to our children if we legalize homosexualism? They will grow up confused."
That's assuming that they share your inability to accept homosexuality, in which case you ought to be really delighted.
4. "Singapore is safe place to work - clean, green and good morality. Please protect this and hold on to 377A. Thank you."
Oh, so homosexuality is immoral, unclean, and environmentally unfriendly and legalizing it makes Singapore unsafe to work in. This writer sounds like a foreign talent. If so, it makes one more impressed than ever by the quality of talents Singapore is attracting.
5. "Consensual homosexual sex is wrong. The Bible clearly states that."
Right . . .
6. "We cannot stop people from choosing the lifestyle they want, but we can make a firm stand to tell the Government, such a lifestyle must NOT be legalised!!"
In short, people can make a choice to commit crimes.
7. "My comments keep getting removed. But they are in line with this petition.
I AM a stupid bigot."
Thanks for telling us that comments do get removed. (But do they remove the comments without removing the signatures?)
8. "We must resist forces that seek to destroy our society."
Someone said the same thing about opposition parties before. What a coincidence.
9. "Sexual immorality and sexual decadence always precedes the fall of a nation. Just search through history. When this happens, a terrible judgement of God awaits."
Yes, keep 377A to ensure that there's no sexual immorality and decadence.
10. "Not natural. Stop transmission of AiDS"
11. "Retain Section377A of the Penal Code. "Legalising" homosexual lifestyle, is tantamount to calling wrong right - where do we draw the line? Adultery, murder, theft, etc - why not legalise all these aberrations. No society considers these acts "right" - so why is homosexuality which is clearly "wrong" receiving so much consideration as to whether it should be legalised or not. Wrong is wrong - let's not be confused."
Adultery is illegal meh?
12. "For the love of God. =)"
=)
13. "I'm open-minded but I do not want the acts of gay and lebians to be legalised. We want our children to lead a healthy lifestyle."
You are what??!! Come on, don't be sinful. You are supposed to be conservative and have family values. Open-mindedness is wrong according to Subverbs 3:20.
14. "children should be given the right to grow up in a complete home, made up of both the father and the mother.Having 1 sex marriages will not be able to provide the child with love and care from BOTH the mother and father."
Ah yes, euthanize orphans and annihilate familes in which one parent has died.
15. "I am a Buddhist and I support 377A. This is because Buddha teaches us to be tolerant and respect all life, but he didn't say specifically we must be tolerant to gays and respect them."
That's a really good one. I don't recall Buddha or God or whoever saying specifically that I must tolerate you either. Or maybe you are alive but gays aren't. Cheem
*By listing the quotes as classics, Molly is by no means saying that they are representative of all the views of the particular petition site.
